Our story

The brainchild of partners Thierry Florit and Carl Boon, Cloud 9 Brewing was born following a craft beer tasting night when the pair joked about the brilliance of producing a craft beer
with cannabis oil
.

As Carl already had a multitude of contacts within the industry due to founding one of the UK’s most trusted CBD online stores, CBD Ultra - progress on the product development was quick. They partnered with one of the top organic hemp producers in the world to import a unique water-soluble full-spectrum CBD, one of the key ingredients to this tasty tipple.

Shortly after a partnership was then forged with an award-winning head brewer to refine the recipe by producing a number of test batches, combining different hops and aroma profiles and of course the full-spectrum, water-soluble CBD.

After many enjoyable tasting sessions, “High Flyer session IPA”  was born - the first craft beer brewed with Cannabis Sativa L. oil extract in the UK.

Cloud 9 Brewing

“Cloud nine” means “a state of blissful happiness” which is exactly the aim of the brand - to produce a unique and flavoursome craft beer, supercharged with CBD to guarantees a blissfully elevated ale drinking experience.

So where does the name “Cloud Nine” come from?

The actual expression “Cloud Nine” comes from the first edition of the International Cloud atlas produced in 1896. The atlas defined ten types of cloud and described the ninth type as the “Cumulonimbus” which rises to 10 km - the highest a cloud could be. Since the 1970s, the expression “being on cloud nine” has probably been influenced by its use in popular music such as the famous tune by ‘The Temptations’ and their psychedelic soul album of the same name.

Cannabis Sativa extract (THC-free)

High Flyer contains a THC-free, full spectrum extract from Cannabis Sativa - THC being the ingredient that produces the “high” effect on users. It contains high levels of CBD and other cannabinoids, as well as active terpenes and terpenoids.

Everyone has ‘cannabinoid receptors’ within their body - also known as the “endocannabinoid system”.

This system is responsible for a host of complex actions within the immune system, nervous system and all of the bodies organs. Its main goal is always the same: homeostasis which is the maintenance of a stable internal environment despite fluctuations in the external environment.

CBD aka Cannabidiol helps promote homeostasis within the body and the world is now recognising its benefits and importance when it comes to kick-starting and regulating the Endocannabinoid System.

When the Endocannabinoid system is in balance, the following benefits can be enjoyed:

  • Reduction in anxiety and stress
  • Relief from pain and inflammation
  • Antipsychotic effects
  • Improvement in cardiovascular health
